the original video for madonna's american life was controversial before it was even officially released due to political messaging and graphic violence. the release of the original video was canceled following the 2003 invasion of iraq. madonna officially released the "original" video in April 2023, 20 years after american life's release. this version of the video, however, is still censored as it has all scenes featuring a george w. bush impersonator removed. below is the full, un-censored original video.

 

when madonna's confessions tour was shown on american network nbc the controversial performance of live to tell, which featured madonna on a discofied cross, was censored. the performance's backdrop video was shown instead. below are the censored and uncensored videos of the performance.

Madonna (March 3, 1989) Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” sparked major controversy worldwide. The American Family Association and The Vatican condemned the music video for its supposedly blasphemous imagery.  Religious groups also began protesting the song after it was used in a Pepsi commercial. Pepsi eventually decided to cancel the advertising campaign. Meanwhile, Pope John Paul II encouraged people to boycott Madonna’s concerts in Italy in 1990 shortly after the song’s release.  Madonna has also been banned in Egypt and faced restrictions in Russia.

If anyone else is experiencing difficulty with pages loading and/or unable to comment...

I believe it's because of the multiple links per post.  I don't have a solution as of yet and I really do prefer to list multiple songs in the posts.

In the interim, I have a couple workarounds. Go to the first, second, or third pages because we weren't posting as many multiple songs on those pages, and...

Until we can come up with a solution, limit each individual post to 1 or 2 links, 3 max.

I know it's a pain, but let's try it out and see how it works.

So don't let this stop you from posting as many letter of the day songs as you like, though...and as always, enjoy!

yeah, the pages take forever to load after a couple posts. i was waiting for a new page to start. going back to the first page, where there is less, does make loading significantly faster. i don't really think there's a fix outside of just posting less videos per post, like you said, because it's all down to how the videos are loaded in when the page opens. so there's probably just going to have to be more posts overall, which is a little annoying but less annoying then the absolutely devastatingly long page load times which make posting almost impossible.
