The AFL plays Australian-rules football, which isn’t to be confused with either soccer or U.S. and Canadian-style football.) #2 is a black-and-white copy of the calendar page. The shot turned out a bit more risqué than the editors intended, but they published it anyway. Gotta love the innate Aussie sense of adventure and derring-do. This photo was taken before he got all inked-up, and his torso was shaved or waxed smooth for it. #3 is a poster Younquest did for a national testicular cancer awareness campaign in the United Kingdom. #4 is a black-and-white image from the same photo shoot. The Aussies, Brits, French (for example, the "Dieux du Stade” calendar series), and perhaps others are way ahead of U.S. amateur and professional sports organizations in baring almost all of it to raise funds for or awareness of worthy causes. Unfortunately, U.S. sports organizations must be either too homophobic or too concerned about their public image to get on this bandwagon.
