John Pruitt (real name James Yount) is a former American model, bodybuilder, and investment manager. Athletic achievements Under the name Jim Yount, Pruitt is a member of Drury University's Athletics Hall of Fame. He not only holds several individual records but also led his team to its first national championship. His swimming career ended after he graduated Drury in 1981 before enlisting to Marines, where he spent the next three years. During that time he started working on his bodybuilding career and has released a set of fitness videotape recordings. Modeling career John Pruitt quickly became one of the most famous bodybuilders in the eighties, before signing for Colt Studios which produced gay magazines and videos. He started working for the photographer and founder of Colt Studios Jim French in 1984 after deciding to leave the Marin Corps. As told by French, he was the most handsome man he ever worked with and was prominently featured in the magazine for years, including 2004 special named "Colt: The Men. The Myth. The Muscles", where French described him as the man that could come into the restaurant and make everyone stare at him. Even though he was heterosexual, that didn't hurt his popularity, and today he is considered a gay icon. At the height of his fame, he posed nude but was never doing hardcore scenes with men or women. Post-modeling career Pruitt is now a president and senior managing director for Destra Capital, which is a boutique Investment Management company from Chicago, IL. He is described as a leading expert in the creation of an advisor distributions group. Previously he was in Goldman Sachs, Janus Capital, and Hines Real Estate Securities.
