The Hero We Need — Owen Hundt by Michael Hallenbeck Recently, we featured Owen Hundt, 22, in the April issue of PnV’s Fashionably Male Magazine. But, the “outtakes” were so awesome that we elected to bring you special BONUS coverage of the rising star. A few details from the interview: Owen is from Cleveland, Ohio and his father is a firefighter (whom we salute for being a first responder) and his mother is a realtor. Rugby is Owen’s passion. He started playing at age 13 and moved to lovely New Zealand at age 19 to better learn the game. He traveled the world playing rugby, but signed a contract to play professionally in Boston last year. He’s now a member of the New England Free Jacks of Major League Rugby. As for modeling, Owen was discovered on Instagram in December, so he’s a newbie to the modeling world The lens of Michael Hallenbeck captured just Owen a few months ago. “Working with Owen was a kick. When we met, I could tell he was a bit taken aback by the big city, even though he’s well-traveled. Our personalities hit if off very well. He adapted to the shoot quickly, and we had a nice little adventure shooting outside in the winter.” As for Owen’s future in modeling, Michael reflected, “I think the combination of him being an actual professional athlete, and his presence in front of the camera will ensure him a lot of success. He had only been on a few shoot prior to ours, but based on the shoot that day, I told him, ‘they’re all gonna come after you, kid,’ And they have!”

Acknowledge your fear. Then, tame it like a master. Most people are unable to even take action because of fear. Don’t let it limit you. Admit that you’re fearful, but proceed anyway. Just like fitness model Vedran, aka Natural Monster on instagram: “When I think about my first day in the gym it always brings a smile on my face 😄 I was 125 lbs with no support nor knowledge about working out, had no clue what I’ll do with my life. Then after awhile one path opened and I started to run towards my goals. Still running, still struggling, still striving.” Vigorous self-education. Read. Get Mentors. Observe. Experiment. The best people never stop learning. If you want to be the best version of yourself, do what they do. Just like photographer and globetrotter Mladen, learning from many cultures and countries he has visited. Prioritize output over input. Don’t get trapped in eternal study! You can never consume all information, strategies and tactics available. Gathering input is necessary, but it means nothing without output. Think long term — like 10 years down the road. It’s always easier to enjoy watching TV compared to hitting the gym. Most people cling to instant gratification, because it feels good in the short run. Vedran comments on IG: “To my natural transformation which occured almost 7 years ago when I decided to workout and make the most of my body.” And he’s feeling inspired by this quote from Winston Churchill: “The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees opportunity in every difficulty.” Be 1% better everyday. After a year, you’ll be 3700% better. Do the math. It’s 3778.34%, to be more accurate. People aim for unrealistic growth over the short term, especially when they’re super motivated. Amplify your strengths. You can be anything, but you can’t be everything. If you have strengths, amplify them. For example, I have decent English writing and communication skills, and I use these strengths to teach English classes. Form your success cabinet and shoot for the stars. You’re the average of five people you spend the most time with, because that’s who you subconsciously set benchmark against. Give what you have. What are you rich at? Figure that out. You may think that you have nothing to give, but, in fact, you do. Everyone is rich in some way. Vedran comments on IG: “Some paths you will have to walk alone, sometimes there will be nobody around, somebody will crush you to your knees. What is your next move?” Solve real problems and adjust along the way. Solving imaginary problems can be helpful, but it’s often fear and procrastination in disguise. Difficulties are meant to rouse, not discourage. The human spirit is to grow strong by conflict. Keep a journal. Help your brain to keep up with its thoughts.

“Censored Tyler Ellis At Play” Photo Presentation by Phil Limprasertwong What happens when a 6’4” tall blonde ray of sunshine decides to cut loose and have fun? Well, it might look a lot like the brand new shoot of hunk Tyler Ellis by LA-based photographer Phil Limprasertwong. Recently, you met Tyler here on Fashionably Male with a feature interview and outdoor shoot (see link near bottom of page to view that article). This time, we go indoors with the fun-loving hottie from Vermont in “Censored: Tyler Ellis At Play.” Phil talked about what it was like to work with Tyler. “He brought a lot of fun and positive energy to set and was incredibly easy to work with. He does ‘sexy’ very well, so I wanted to keep that vibe for our shoot together.” He continued, “I love that he’s so comfortable in his own skin and isn’t afraid to try new things.” Phil explained that sometimes models can be too reserved and tense and that the shoot results in bland images, and a one-note face in every frame. Tyler, he commented, certainly doesn’t have that problem. The California-based model came to set prepared, having totally grasped the moodboard and executing Phil’s vision perfectly. Moodboards, according to Phil, “are basically a study guide given to models to help them understand what’s expected of them for the shoot. Surprisingly,” Phil added, “a lot of models don’t even look at the moodboards or study them and come to set unprepared.” Phil certainly expects big things in the future for the 24 year old actor/model. As for sexy Tyler, who was inspired to model by his hairstylist back in Vermont, he now loves living the shirtless life in warm Los Angeles. And Tyler admitted there’s a 10 out of 10 chance he’d shoot with Phil again, as he had a blast collaborating. “Phil used some lighting that I had never seen before, and it made the shots really stand out.” In addition, Tyler reflected about his shoot with Phil, “He’s very easy to shoot with and makes you feel comfortable.” Tyler explained his view of posing for sexy photo features. “The very first shoots I did were posing pretty much nude. It was a little weird at first, but I always knew my limits and I have a clear line that I won’t cross. As long as I stay congruent with my standards and morals, then I am pretty much game for whatever it is I am shooting. Joem Bayawa presents Taylor Earwood – Exclusive Taylor Earwood is a 26 year old up and comer hailing from Los Angeles. He started his modeling career originally behind the camera doing creative photography shoots. When his projects required a model he would often jump in and do self portrait work. Exclusive Interview with Ryan — A Great Performer You Need To Meet Gymnast, Aerial specialist, fitness coach and certified yoga instructor, let’s meet this gorgeous performer. Ryan comments in exclusive for fashionablymale.net “I have also been very fortunate to work on several creative projects for celebrities such as P!nk, Katy Perry, and Taylor Swift, with feature aerial acrobatic collaborations that appeared in both world tours and live music award shows.” Fashionably Male: Hi Ryan, would you please introduce yourself. Weight and height? Age? Hair. And eye color? What is your hometown? Where is your current residence? I’m originally from Windsor, Ontario Canada. I’m 5’5 and 150lbs, 40 years old (July 5th), brown hair, brown eyes. I split my time now between Las Vegas, British Columbia and Brisbane Australia. I love and miss traveling! Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to visit many countries including Mexico, Australia, Russia, South Africa, Denmark, France, Belgium, USA, Canada, Thailand, Bali, Bahrain, Spain, and the UK. About his family I met my loving husband 5 years ago while I was hosting an event in Orlando, and we have been happily married for 3 years (as of June 3rd). FM: When did you start to modeling?, when was your first shooting? Modeling has always just been a fun and creative outlet for me on the side for friends practicing their photography skills. My first modeling job was live at a tradeshow back in 2005 or 2006, for an underwear/swimwear brand called N2N out of LA. FM: Guys can be nervous and uncomfortable in their first nude or swimwear / underwear shooting, did you feel uncomfortable or nervous? Ironically my first job was at a tradeshow in Las Vegas so yes I was a bit nervous to be seen in just my underwear by thousands of attendees. By the end of the day, I felt pretty comfortable and I continued to model for N2N for a few years and then modeled for an Australian brand Cocksox several years later. FM: How did you find motivation in this new era we’re living now? Does isolation affect your daily routine ? Isolation has really affected my daily routine. As a professional acrobat, my livelihood is through creative work and training, and unfortunately, the entertainment industry has really been hit hard. We are accustomed to training daily to keeping up our skills and conditioning our bodies to maintain strength. I’ve had to get creative with my workouts at home, and having no access to gyms or facilities to train. I’ve switched my mindset over to my yoga training and breathwork to help stay grounded so that when we can return to work and training I will be ready. FM: Pride is coming, in some major cities is cancelled, how are you spend Pride celebrations? I will spend Pride month celebrating with my husband and family. I notice you’re now with HBM Talent in L.A. Tell us about that. Are you moving to L.A.? Yes I am with HBM in L.A. I love it and we do some great things together. Sophie is the coordinator and she rocks it, always getting things done and making magic happen. I probably won’t be moving to L.A. though. I travel there very frequently but New York is my home. You were recently in a new Netflix movie that filmed in Montreal and Mexico. Tell us about the film, your character, the shooting experience…and when do you anticipate the release? Yeah I was just shooting for a documentary, “Changer D’avis”, which will be on Netflix. It’s a real life thing and it is based around a photoshoot I was on in Montreal. Its release will be next year in the early part of the year. Shooting and the whole experience was a lot of fun for sure. You also recently shot a TV commercial. Tell us about the ad….it looks like you play a bartender, which you do in real life (in addition to being a DJ)….you were qualified for that part obviously. I did do a TV commercial for Jericho Terrace in Mineola, New York. It was a lot of fun filming for this as well. The ad is on channels broadcasted all around New York as Jericho Terrace is a place that caters to many weddings. I think I did make a mean drink for that, would you like me to make you one as well? Believe me, I could use a mean drink right about now Career wise I try to get my hands in a little bit of everything, so every day something new is either going on, or something new is being thought about. You were recently on a book cover, the novel “Sweetwater Seduction” by Joan Johnston. You’re a cowboy, too….pretty impressive for a Big Apple city slicker. Who took the image? Tell us what you think about being on book c overs as I know it’s not your first rodeo. Do you ever read the books to see if the character is actually remotely like yourself haha? I actually just was in Barnes and Nobel today looking for that book but it was sold out. I had to practice my lassoing skills for that. But thanks I am glad you are impressed haha. The image was shot by Rob Lang and it was shot out in the Hamptons and old Westbury New York. I love being on book and magazine covers. Every-time one comes my way I feel so thankful and blessed. This is only possible because everyone that is on my side and backs me up ☺. I have read the books and I feel somewhat like the character as the image plays out in my head. How do you always have such perfect skin? It’s not perfect but thank you for thinking that. I had more skin care products than CVS, but I had been drawn to some specific ones recently. You have been modeling since you were 18. On Sept 19, you turned 31. How have you managed to last in a career that’s often times so fleeting? I think I have lasted so long because I try to keep up with the times and I always try to help out and give it my all. Or maybe it’s luck lol. But I definitely hard work for sure.
