voting today
has been assisting the democratic party in 's town
- helping with their website mostly
they asked if would be a monitor at the polls today
all had to do is
1 - KEEP QUIET
2. essentially - eavesdrop on conversations when voters come in to hear (a) street address and [hopefully] (b) name
3. check off on list that the certain person - on that street with that name who is a registered democrat has shown up
4. KEEP QUIET!
there is nothing illegal or improper in this as it is merely to see if your party is showing up
and if they aren't - get to the folks who aren't and get them there to vote
alot of the time really could not hear the person's name
because alot of the time the people checking them in don't saay it for various reasons
the other parties were doing this as well
so no complaint or issues on that
everyone got along splendidly
with the exception of the lady who was at the afternoon shift for the democrats
she said "gee. it is cold in here"
she was soundly SHHHHHed
and asked to remain outside
the KEEP QUIET rule was obviously taken VERY seriously by all
it was nice to see CLEAN elections in what is - otherwise a VERY conservative town
where a democratic candidate FINALLY
in decades and decades
won first selectman
