About this blog

This is a slice of another blog I write that's pretty much SFW so I'll try to spice things up a bit for adonis.male.com.

It's a little portal into my world and some of the things I've seen and learned on the way to where I am now.

Vietnam

I've been trying to put my thoughts together for another travel-adventure segment and mulling over discussing Vietnam or Israel... It's been difficult for me to write about both for entirely different reasons... so I'll start with Vietnam and move on to Israel sometime in the not too distant future.   I'm of an age that I distinctly remember the war in Vietnam and the protests and was touched by death as a result of both. I wrote once before I had a chance to be a part of the

Let's Talk About That Girl...

I should have a brand new blog ready in September... 8, September to be exact... that is the 7th year anniversary of me starting my blog writing experience... (I'll give you a hint... it's about music) As I said last month I was posting here from Blogger and today is the third most read blog in my archives... (It shocked the hell out of me) but enjoy...   First of all I want to apologize for falling behind here and letting the entires slip by for a month... but life has been life and

Oh La La... and Fa La La La La

First of all "Oh La La" I can't believe how time has slipped away this year like sands through the hour glass... I had the best intentions  of writing in October  with a snappy title called.... "Fourteen Weddings And A Bar Mitzvah" in brief the year after I graduated from college... I knew a lot of people who wanted me to be part of their wedding festivities either as a guest or singer... and one lucky couple celebrating the milestone of their son's life... If you will bear with me I have the ou

A little about my past... actually a lot!

This is a long one so pour a cup of coffee or whatever...     I've really enjoyed reading  Marilu Henner's book "Total Memory Makeover"... I'm going to share with you some of the memories rediscovered and others that I've fine tuned from the exercises she provides... I'll start by saying... I've written something a bit longer than usual this week so pardon my indulgence... and also memories like everything else in life you have to be able to embrace the bitter and the

The Music Man aka I know A Fine Way To Treat A Steinway

I hope everyone had a wonderful summer... I did... and as usual I did not get everything done I planned... with all the changes in the world... the summer flying by is not one of them... I can't believe this is my seventh year writing... Thank you for joining me and sharing your thoughts and insights... I said in a previous entry that dancing is one of the most important aspects of my life and who I am as person today... but there would be no dancing without music... the arts, theatre, athl

We'll Always Have Paris

One of my favorite things to say is "Oh la la" and I say it quite often... especially in Paris. I'm planning a trip soon so I was reviewing this...     As the song goes "I love Paris in the springtime!" I even love it in the autumn and winter... I even like it quite a lot in the summer in spite of the crowds of tourists and heat. To tell you the truth I've never felt like a tourist in Paris I've always felt at home. I've been to Paris dozens of times and each trip has bee

14 Weddings And A Bar Mitzvah

The last year I was in college I was busy with all the things I needed to do to finish my degree and join the real world after graduating... several people that I knew were putting more concentration and effort into their upcoming weddings... yes the title of this says it all... the year after I graduated I attended fourteen weddings...to be fair I was only a guest at eleven of them and was a singer at the other three. It was a very interesting year and I learned a lot about myself and human nat

Written Out Of The Script

Thanks for being patient...  finally got around to writing something new...       There are a lot of ways a character can be taken out of the story in the entertainment industry... it happens most often in film  when a feature character gets edited out (It's what used to be called winding up on the cutting room floor when film was actually cut for editing...A place I've wound up many times) usually a character is deemed insignificant to the storyline or someone is trying to c

You're Not From Here Are You?

I've always suspected that perhaps there was a mix up when I was born and subsequently sent home with the wrong family... as I spent most of my childhood with little to nothing in common with those  I shared meals and a house; there was  nothing of any value or substance between the shadow and act in our lives.  I did little to meet them half way and vice versa--- The simple matter of the fact was we just did not get each other... we were like trapeze artists always missing each other in mid air

Tropical Depression

Storms and lightening and violent storms used to be one of the things that scared the living daylights out of me (If truth be told they still scare me)... but I've learned to have respect for them with the knowledge that nature like people need to have a way of resetting and balancing... But always take whatever steps necessary to keep yourself out of harms way.   I have loved every moment of every day that I've lived in or visited a tropical places... the weather and the lifestyle

The Memory Ghost

I've been reading some of the past entries... and realized I've spent far too much time apologizing at the opening for my tardiness and/or the length of time it's taken me to put together a new post here... so I'm not going to do it anymore... life has been life recently and I've really needed the extra time to reflect and plan... so thank you for your patience and thank you to the people who contacted me to make sure I'm OK... I am OK... but changed... hopefully for the better but time and the

Give Me A Sign

During the summer months when I take time away from the blog that I publish on Blogger... periodically I go back to look at the viewership and see what archival items people are looking at... It's very funny the number one of all time was "Journey To Greece" that I also published here because one of the members was considering a trip to Greece... This one is number two... and you are not going to believe what number three is... I'll publish it here soon... So I hope you are enjoying your summer.

Turning The Corner...And Moving On

Sometimes it's easier said than done to turn one of life's corners and move on... simply because sometimes we don't want to let go or can't for some reason. I am so ready to let go of the last few years... the last year in particular and start a new chapter. But it's important to take stock of everything and leave behind what or who is unnecessary and obsolete and pack carefully what we might need for the journey and the destination.   I don't think I need to tell anyone that 2020 was

The Handwriting Is On The Wall

I've written before about recognizing signs... but it's equally important to be able to read the handwriting on the wall or seeing the forest for the trees! There are a lot of subtleties in life and sometimes  things are more obvious and blatant... but if you ignore the signs or cues life gives you it's possible to take the wrong turns... I'm a big believer that eventually we almost always get back on track and maybe the detour was necessary for one reason or another... but I'll get back to this

Under Water

Under water has a few meanings... in mortgaged real estate or if you live on a flood zone it's not a great scenario... but operating beneath the surface of the water is one of my favorite places to be... I spent a great deal of time on a diving board and in a swimming pool during my high school and college days... I found  flying off the  the diving board and sailing through the air toward the water one of the most physically and psychologically gratifying  experiences of my life... that has onl

Get Your Kicks

Although I prefer to fly to most destinations I've said previously that driving and getting a little dusty and sweaty on a road trip can be a very illuminating and liberating experience. My friend George and I have driven the entire Route 66 (in two different trips) and from it I learned quite a bit about the people and the world we live in and discovered a treasure trove of insights about friendship and who I am and what I'm capable of.    Route 66 runs through six US sta

The Chalk Garden

OK this is actually the followup to the Wine Tasting blog... someone here who also looks at my blog elsewhere suggested I post this... I'm writing something new I promise... thank you for your patience and thanks a million for looking at the archives...   The title this week may seem a bit cryptic  but I've chosen it to explain the soil conditions  for growing grapes in the Champagne region of France and later I'm going to take a detour from wine altogether and segway over to "The Grea

On A Clear Day...

On A Clear Day You Can See Forever was a 1970 film starring Barbra Streisand, Yves Montand with a phenomenal supporting cast that included Jack Nicholson, Bob Newhart and Mable Albertson.  The costumes deserve a nod because the modern costumes were done by Arnold Scassi and the period costumes were done by Cecil Beaton...          Before it was a movie it was a broadway musical with music by Burton Lane with book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner in 1966... it wa

Giving Thanks

I was putting the finishing touches on this and published it on Blogger before I went to Hawaii....   Time as they say flies... this is the blog that I had planned to submit in November in time for Thanksgiving... and I just got caught up in so many things up to and including the holiday season... I know I promised to post this in February... and again like sand through the hour glass it got away from me again... I check fairly often the stats on this blog to see if anyone is actually

Body Image

OK I don't care who it is... everyone in the world has body image issues or issues about their appearance that may stem from what people have told them or conditioned them to  believe about themselves... I've linked an interview from BBC that focuses on men and some of the issues we have with our body... I hope you will watch it (it takes about 14 minutes) otherwise I'll be summarizing  some of what was covered (but frankly I believe in reading and understanding the full subject and wh

The Rainbow Connection

The song "The Rainbow Connection" was written by Paul Williams and Ken Ascher for "The Muppet Movie" in 1979 and sung by Kermit the Frog... I never saw the movie... but one of my best friends at the time did and it was her favorite song... after I heard it the song became one of my favorite too... as a matter of fact it still is. But the day I met my new friend was at the book store at The University of Hawaii... The University's football team adopted the name the Rainbow Warriors in 1974 that d

Voice Over

People often ask me about being a voice-over actor... it's basically vocals or narrating off camera. Being successful is like every other aspect of the entertainment industry--- auditioning excellently, consistently and sometimes creatively. What I love about it besides the money is I don't have to be part of the office 9-5 lifestyle and I can wear sweats and tennis shoes to work if I feel like it... and no one ever says... "Can you do something with your hair?"... the drawbacks are that you don

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood

I have always liked almost anything that begins with Once upon a time... So then here we go with... Once Upon A Time In Hollywood... I'm not going to be discussing the Quentin Tarantino movie with Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio as much as I loved it... because he wrote the happy ending everyone wished had really happened in the first place. When I was growing up I began my lifelong love affair with movies as I discussed here in (Behind The Scenes) I used to watch the late movie on Frida

Yearbooks

I  always remember in late spring when I was in High School anxiously awaiting the release of the school yearbook to reminisce about the year and relive some of the activities and events that transpired from August to May... my own yearbooks have been lost to time but I remember  the last two vividly  (I was even on the Yearbook Staff my Junior year as I was flirting with the idea of a career in journalism at the time)...       I've been thinking about the

See You In My Dreams

As much as summertime has always been a time of action and adventure for me over the years it's also been a time of reflection and recharging... this past summer has been much of both. Someone a long time ago said to me while death was waiting at the door "After I'm gone if you ever need me I'll see you in your dreams" and in as much as I've spent most of my life trying to understand facts and proof... I've always been and still am deeply comforted with this thought. As much as I would like to I
