About this blog

This is a slice of another blog I write that's pretty much SFW so I'll try to spice things up a bit for adonis.male.com.

It's a little portal into my world and some of the things I've seen and learned on the way to where I am now.

Follies

I was thinking today about the Tony Awards that did not happen this year and thought of this little gem from a couple of years ago...   fol·ly/ˈfälē/ noun lack of good sense; foolishness. a costly ornamental building with no practical purpose, especially a tower or mock-Gothic ruin built in a large garden or park. a theatrical revue, typically with glamorous female performers.     Since the Tony Award nominations came out I've been thinking about

Come Fly With Me...

Some of you may or may not know that the only job I could land after graduating from UCLA (with a 4.0) was as a Flight Attendant with Pan Am... I really only intended to do the job for about a year until I lined up something better... but one thing lead to another and I stayed much longer than I planned... I met some great people and went to some amazing places... would I want to do it all again? No...no... and no... so enjoy... this is a rerun ... guess who is running behind on my new blog entr

Nude Beaches...a few of my favorites

I must confess this was a heart rending and gut wrenching experience eliminating many on my list so I just decided to write them down on small pieces of paper and throw them up in the air and pick up a hand full and start with these select few...  Maybe I'll go back to the beaches with you later as there are just too many to have to choose.       Surprisingly (or not surprisingly if you know me) quite a few ended up being clothing optional... so I'm going to give you a quick

Need Some Feedback

OK fateful readers (all 15 of you) I need some feedback please... when the site went south... Eight blogs disappeared... The Four Around The World- segments highlighting how I spent a fun filled month on Pan Am Flight One Up Up And Away - the highly insightful and heart felt blog about my life as a Pan Am Flight Attendant-Purser Tying Up Loose Ends- The heart rending tales of life after Pan Am went out of business Oh And One More Thing Before The Holidays- One of my

See You In My Dreams

This is from about the same time... last year... I'm sorry to say my blogs are going to have to continue to be reruns for a few weeks... I'm busy with other projects and issues at the moment so bear with me...   First of all I hope everyone had a fantastic summer... and to begin I want to thank you for reading... Next week marks four years since I started this venture and I can only hope it's been as enjoyable and interesting for you as it has been for me.   As much as summertime

Since We're Neighbors Let's Be Friends

I wrote this before I wrote the blog about filming Grease but this is a brief account of living next door to Carrie Fisher in Hollywood Hills the summer I was filming...           If you shopped at the Safeway supermarket stores in the 60's and 70's you are likely familiar with the slogan and song they used in their advertisements on radio and television... and a snappy little jingle it was because I can still hear it playing in my head sometimes...  For the most pa

Backstage

Today I'm going to talk a little about the theatre and theaters...       In case you don't know there are a few types of theatre venues... The Proscenium Theater  with a stage, orchestra pit and fixed seats in the orchestra, mezzanine and balcony (Think Radio City Music Hall)... Arena Ampitheatre (Think Ancient Greek outdoor theatre or The Hollywood Bowl)... and then there is a Black Box Theater (Think of a big area with light rigging and black walls and floo

Journey To Greece

This is another blog from the archives... this blog incidentally is the most read blog I've ever written according to the stats that blogger keeps... anyway I've been busy but I am working on two new entries... so I thought I would rerun this one since @jakester said previously that he was interested in visiting Greece soon...    Traveling offers beautiful new views of the world that can lead to a moment that changes your life or your outlook forever... No matter where in the world I a

The Naked Truth

First of all let me just say... I'm sorry I've been very busy and distracted and I did not have a chance to publish a blog last month. I got a couple of messages from readers who asked if I was taking my normal summer sabbatical... well yes I am starting today... but I would never run off for the summer without wishing everyone well and leaving you with something new to consider...     The truth is it is for me... but it's not for everyone because some people were raised to b

The Next Chapter Of My Life Is Called...

First of all way too much time has passed since I planned to publish my last entry... a not so funny thing happened and I had an accident with my right hand (my dominant hand) that involved emergency room visits... consultations with two Hand Surgeon specialists... long story short... I'm not going to lose my right thumb, tendon issues have resulted in physical therapy and surgery is still on the back burner.... so the marvelous follow up that I had planned for October is on hold. (I have notes

A Quiet Holiday This Year... I'll be back in January

This is much different than what I had planned for this month... but we have to learn to adapt... that's part of the secret to life... I'll be spending a much more quiet holiday this year than usual... a string of events over the last few months have lead to this decision. We have to look at the signs life show us and interpret  and follow them... as a result I'm taking a much needed hiatus from social media and some other obligations to deal with the overwhelming sadness that grief dictates.

Gone... But Not Forgotten

The world we are living in right now is very uncertain, since March we have been in a quarantine staying at home and social distancing when we leave to bring home essentials. I think all of us are yearning for the day when we leave our homes again and return to some sense of normalcy to see our friends and hug and live the kind of life that perhaps many of us took for granted before our exile began at home. During times like this I think it's natural and probably therapeutic to think back to tim

Picking Up The Pieces And Moving On...

I closed last time asking you to think about the kind of world you want to create to help build the new normal in the world... and maybe it was a bit daunting... but consider just starting with rebuilding your own personal world as a blueprint for your new normal... I'll ask you to consider something... I have always bought the type clothing for the life I have... but also a few things for the life I want to have... Believe it or not I've actually bought shoes just in case Brad Pitt and I ran in

Holding Out For A Hero

Right now at least for me the biggest heroes on my list are the men and woman around the world working in health care who have been fighting on the front lines against covid-19...    But before I begin I want to address something that I received a few e-mails about in the last week or so... that it's my tendency to write about the past...  I want to be perfectly clear that I have no interest or wish to go backwards and live in the past or try to hold on to it in todays world... but it's

Landing Jelly Side Up

Well first of all I'm sorry that it's been over a month since I was able to get my thoughts together to post here... a lot has been going  on and it all needed my full attention... first on the list is that   we moved and coordinating 25 years of belongings and downsizing to a new location is one big nerve jangling job!     No we did not move here but this has always been one of my favorite pieces of property in the world... Maybe someday.... meanwhile I love where we are now

Care To Tango Avec Moi?

I'm sorry this is another rerun from the archives from four years ago (I've been too busy to write)... This one ties in to the last one I published here and maybe will tie a few loose ends together... This one is a bit longer than normal so pour a cup of coffee or whatever...   If you do... I know how to tango too... but I only know how to lead... if I was an excellent dancer I would know how to follow as well... How many times have you heard someone say "It takes two to tango?"... it's

Lost And Found

I suppose the best thing I can say about 2020 is that (at least for me) everyone showed their true colors this year... and good or bad it's important to know people for what they are and not try to make them more than they are ever capable of being... and at the same time appreciate the people who really stepped up and helped make a difference. The things and people in life that excite us are not random they are connected to our soul and are part of our purpose in living every day...With

My World Keeps Getting Larger Every Day

In 1970 it was just about the time that I started having a world view and began my journey to seriously consider, people, places and ideas outside my backyard and comfort zone... it was the same year that Neil Sadaka and Howard Greenfield wrote a song for Eydie Gorme called "My World Keeps Getting Smaller Every Day"... it became a hit for Miss Gorme and a few other people recorded it including Neil Sedaka and me for an audition demo tape once... my favorite version was done by Carmen Soriano...

Decisions...Decisions...

More summer thoughts from 2018!... Spoiler Alert... I used miles and went to Paris that summer to think things over and have a new culinary adventure...     As I said last time  it was necessary for me to spend some quality time with myself to give some offers serious thought and make some decisions about myself and the future... (before I go any further I want to thank the people who I speak with on a regular or at least a fairly regular basis for respecting my privacy and allowi

Capri

Well... guess who is running behind publishing a new blog entry... if you guessed me...you win today's prize of a rerun of something I wrote about five years ago... Capri will always be one of my favorite places in the world... and speaking of the world... my latest blog is about a round the world journey... so stay tuned. Meanwhile enjoy this short and sweet re-blog.   What can I say about Capri? ... except I always refer to it as The Isle of Capri; a habit I started when someone aske

Visiting Vietnam

I was just talking with @JackFTwist about cruises and river cruises... and was reminded of this blog from a few years ago... also... I'm running late publishing the new entry... Thanks for reading. I've been trying to put my thoughts together for another travel-adventure segment and mulling over discussing Vietnam or Israel... It's been difficult for me to write about both for entirely different reasons... so I'll start with Vietnam and move on to Israel sometime in the not too distant futu

Ready...Set...Go!

I have always loved traveling... everything about it appeals to me from the anticipation of planning the trip... to the packing and everything involved with getting there (I used to like flying a lot more... but maybe that's another subject for another day) I love traveling with others and  I have even had some some extraordinary trips by myself.... truth be told I would rather share the experience but sometimes meeting new people and experiencing  a destination and what it has to offer with a r

What's In A Name?...And 25 Other Things

Many people who left Europe and found their way to Hollywood through the 1930's were often persuaded by immigration officers, studio heads and often just plain common sense  to change their names to be more user friendly in lights on a marquee or in credits... Let's start with MGM... Samuel Goldwyn (the G in MGM) started his life in Poland as Schmuel Gelbfisz and on his arrival in the United States changed it to the literal americanized translation of his name to Samuel Goldfish... It really doe

Summer Vacation...

As promised I said I would share a few of my older blogs while I'm on my annual summer sabbatical ... it was a heart rending trying to decide so I settled on sharing some of the summer vacation entires...         Summer has always been my favorite season... even though it's the shortest and time seems to fly from Memorial Day to Labor Day... I love it because it has the longest days that many have been filled with crystalline water under a cerulean sky punctuated with

Happy Holidays

I'm one of the people who truly believe the winter holidays are the most wonderful time of the year... I grew up in a rather diverse household and when my partner and I started sharing the holidays we incorporated some of our traditions and even made some new ones... The season begins for us at Thanksgiving and we celebrate not only our anniversary, but also Hanukkah, Christmas, New Years and Epiphany in early January. I think the reason I like it so much is because I  like decorations and music
