  1. Tips for reading and writing blogs on AdonisMale - (ongoing) Introduction Reader Tips Writer Tips Free editing tools for bloggers Introduction First things first; I do not consider myself a writer, nor a blog writer. I blog as a hobby, a diversion, a stress reliever, and because I have a lot of time on my hands. I first came to AdonisMale some years back, pre-pandemic, because at the time, I had been posting gay porn on Tumblr, and it kicked us out. I finally settled on newTumbl as my refuge, and Adonis was one of the places I considered, though not for long. Until recently, some of my posts early posts here were visible, until the Adonis crash happened, and then all was lost. After investing a whole lot of time on newTumbl and Tumblr, I went waaaay back to Blogger, where Loveless Motel Parody landed, as well as my other two blogs, ParkBenchCruiser and GayVarietyShow. Loveless Motel Parody is the only blog I've ever actually "written" in the true sense of the word, by simply adding captions to pictures. Loveless Motel Parody Backup on Adonis Male is exactly that. It's a backup blog for my Blogger effort. As such, it is not yet up to date. As of this writing, there are 512 posts on Blogger, and 450 on AdonisMale. I generally post once a day on Blogger. On Adonis, I am playing catchup, and hope to have the two in sync at some point. On top of it, I also back up to reblogme, another Tumblr clone, similar in appearance to Tumblr and newTumbl. The CHALLENGE in blogging the same material on multiple platforms is that each has different features. Coping from Blogger to AdonisMale has been the most challenging because of the differences between the two. I use Blogger as my main platform because for a free platform, it is very robust with many options and features for the overall look and feel, and I've only scratched the surface as a self-taught blogger with few technical computer skills. You can see my effort here: Loveless Motel Parody AdonisMale is a wonderful platform. There are so many rabbit holes here that it's been a learning curve for me, and I am still learning, but I do find it a bit sad that more users on AdonisMale haven't used it. I'm not sure why, but perhaps it's just the basic fact that the site is geared to visual media - after all, we all got here because we were looking for porn, and titillation - bate material, rather than literature. Granted, there are some nicely written blogs here, but finding them is hard and the payoff isn't in the "things that get me off" category. But if you are interested at all in blogging on Adonis, I have found the only resource on how to use the blog feature is site Members, since the Help link doesn't really address blogs at all. In fact, you can see for yourself - there is a space holder for some future update, but it is devoid of help. The path is from the main AdonisMale menu at the top of the page. You can click to get to the page: [Other]>[Help Tutorials]>[Blogs Help] One solution to this if to create a blog about how to create a blog on AdonisMale. Now, why didn't I think of that? Oh wait; I just did! Reader Tips - all tips are based on information I have learned through trial and error and may run contrary to information provided on the site Tips are written for those users viewing the blog on a desktop computer. I use the Chrome browser, Windows 11. Searching for content Searching for content can be accomplished by using tags, the search engine provided by AdonisMale, or by using your computer keyboard. Tags - search the whole site Tags (#tags) are useful critters, provided you understand their limitations. Within a blog, tags, if the writer has chosen to add them, are located within the blog entry, under the entry title. They do not display a hashtag (#). I have found that a tag created by the writer of a blog, when clicked on by a reader, will return links to all content on the entire site which used the same tag. For example, if I am on Loveless Motel Parody Backup blog and click the tag "blowjob", the result page will take me out of the blog, to a page that lists every page or picture that used the same tag, site-wide. You would then have to scroll to find entries that are identified by the blog name you are looking for, which can be time consuming. Categories search within the active blog only Categories are specific to the blog you are viewing, but limited. Only one category can be used per blog entry, but each blog entry may have many tags. For example, a blog about vintage porn magazines may use a category label to make it easy for you to sort Playgirl magazines from Mandate, In Touch, Inches, One, Physique Pictorial, and make it easy to find each entry containing the title of a particular magazine, but in order to help you find a particular model in a magazine, would have to resort to tags. The difference between the two is that the Category label will return just those magazines categorized with the label "Playgirl" when the label is clicked, but once within the blog entry you chose, any tag with a model name will return all instances of that tag site wide. You may be delighted, but you also might be annoyed that you find yourself outside the blog once again. You can search for categories in two ways. There is a dropdown list on each blog home page, and each blog entry tile on the blog's home page has a clickable category label (I have added red outline boxes) Using the Search box on AdonisMale On a webpage, the search box is located in the upper right hand corner of the active AdonisMale interface, directly under your account name, and is "sticky" (it stays in the same place), no matter where else you navigate to. The search box can be used to search "everywhere" on the site, which may return vast amounts of results, but you can filter by selecting certain areas from a dropdown list. Before you enter a search term, look at the search box which will tell you which part of the site it will look at if you do not use the dropdown. The default setting for the search category can change depending on where you are on the site, but seems to default to "Everywhere" if used once, for example, on Blog Entries. Always check before using, and reset if you don't intend to search "everywhere" Searching for content on a single page If you are on a blog page (or any web page or in a document) you can search for exact words or phrases. You can use the AdonisMale search box and filter by selecting "This Page" from the dropdown list, although this may slow you down just because you have to move the cursor into the box. I use the following method. On your keyboard, simultaneously strike the CTRL button (lower left corner of most keyboards) and the "F" button [CTRL+F] Somewhere on the page, a new search box will open for you to type in your search criteria, and the results will be highlighted by the system on the page. There may be more than one result. Writer Tips - all tips are based on information I have learned through trial and error and may run contrary to information provided on the site Tips are written for those users writing the blog on a desktop computer. I use the Chrome browser, Windows 11. BEFORE YOU START YOUR BLOG, CONSIDER THIS: Tip 1: Your first post should be a changeable space. Because of the nature of AdonisMale's blog interface, and especially if you treat your blog as a diary, or create some kind of episodic story line, rather than start your story from your very first post, do yourself a favor. If you get serious about this blogging thing, you may want one or multiple blank posts which you can go back to later. Posts appear to the reader as the most recently created. That means your very first post will be hidden from view on the interface unless the user discovers the navigational carrots at the bottom of the page. So after you have created a few blank posts for later use, as you start to blog with your journal or storyline, those posts will sink deeper from view. Then, as the need for using one of those blank spaces for a new purpose(you can always go back and edit any blog entry), the most easy way for your or your reader to access them will be via a link that you can create for access purposes. Things you might want to use your blank entries for include: Creating an archive for news articles about your blog Telling your readers about your methodology Using the blank as an experimental blog space to see how something looks, since there is no option to preview before you publish. Its true you can always edit something after the fact, but you will find that once you publish your most recent entry, anyone can read it, even if it didn't come out the way you intended. Of course, there are lots of ways you can prevent that - creating an entry in a word document, copy/paste, etc ************************* Basics Some elements of the basic home page screen Blog Banner (including photo upload button, Title and Author) Entries, Comments and Views and Admirer counters Description box - "About this Blog" with "Read More" option Management line: Manage, View a Category, and Add a Blog Entry Add a banner image using the "Photo" button at the top right .This is your opportunity to brand your blog. Use an image that will be recognizable and unique. Avoid using stock photos, if possible. On the bottom of the picture above, note the "Manage Blog" dropdown which will render the following options, to edit or delete the blog Click on "Edit Blog" This will open an interface from which you can add a description of your blog for readers, and any other information you want to include. It can be used in many ways, but keep in mind that a reader will only see the first 2 or three lines of what you put there. Make that information count. Think about Describing what a reader is likely to encounter in your posts, taking your whole blog into account. Any additional information you use in the field will be masked and the reader must click on "Read More" to see. Good luck with that. In edit mode, there are two fields to consider; "Description" and "Sidebar Contents". If you look at several blogs on AdonisMale, you will see that many do not use the Sidebar feature. You may decide you don't need it, but if you decide later to use it, it can always be included later. To use the Sidebar, it must be enabled using the toggle button as shown at the bottom left in the picture below. There are two tabs on the Edit Blog screen. Blog Settings allows you to right content for your description and sidebar. Entry Categories will be discussed later. Enter the title of your blog which will be rendered on top of your banner picture Write your Description. Notice the options you have for text placement and appearance. You can include pictures by uploading them directly from a computer file or drag and drop. I use pics saved to a computer file on my hard drive. Once a picture has been uploaded, you can click on the picture which will place it into the document. To place it into your document, select right, center or left from the options, and then click the picture. The "Other Media" button allows you to use images from sources other than your hard drive. The size of the image can be adjusted to a point, which will be discussed later. Enter your Sidebar Content. To do so, you must enable the sidebar by toggling the button Do you want anonymous users to be able to comment on your blog? You can choose using the toggle button provided. If you have completed your content, you can click "Save" on the bottom right corner Your First Post Entry Categories Adding a custom banner for your post for your blog home page Image Size Free editing tools for bloggers - I have used most of these for years; most are easy to use and learn compared to other similar aps. The first use I list for an app is the one I use it most for - some do multiple tasks. Lunapic - web based - has a free colorizer tool, and a ton of other stuff. A little hard to find what you are looking for - do a google search for Lunapic colorizer, or lunapic transparency, or lunapic whatever... https://www9.lunapic.com/editor/ PicPick - download - screen capture and simple editing https://picpick.app/en/download/ Remove BG - web based - remove a background and replace with stock backgrounds, or make a transparency (this great app's output shrinks the size of your photo, but I use one of the many other tools on the list to resize it again) https://www.remove.bg/ PhotoFiltre 7 - download - all-purpose image editor https://www.photofiltre-studio.com/pf7-en.htm EZGIF.com - website - create, edit, resize, manage animated gif images https://ezgif.com/ RedKetchup - bulk image resizer (does a host of other things - converts image files from one format to another, and has a Twitter downloader, for example) https://redketchup.io LibreOffice Suite - download - basic Office/Microsoft 365 alternative, including Writer and Impress, a presentation tool (I use it to format text as "justify", and then capture the screenshot with PicPick to crop and create an image of my text to create a text column) https://www.libreoffice.org/ Word Counter - web based - counts the number of words in a post https://wordcounter.io/
