I'll probably get some nasty comments to this, but oh well.  St. Patrick's Day is not an Irish holiday as most people think - it's a holiday that originated here in America.  The first St. Patrick Day parade was held here in New York.  The patron saint St. Patrick wasn't even Irish - he was a Roman citizen.  He was born in either Scotland or England, which were under the control of the Roman Empire at that time.  Also, the original color for St. Patrick's Day was blue, not green, and that's because the robes St. Patrick wore were blue.  Even the corned beef that's traditionally eaten on this day isn't Irish.  They got it from the Jews because Jewish people eat a lot of corned beef.
