Lloyd Beardsley

He has passed away in his 30s.

He was actually 44 years old when he passed away on April 1, 1990 in Palm Springs, CA. The magazine was so amazing in the 1970's with models like Lloyd. RIP ~

Lloyd Beardsley aka Lloyd C. Beardsley II aka Jerry Mansfield (September 7, 1945 - April 1, 1990) seemed to be doing both.

Born in Palm Springs, Lloyd’s father was a doctor and his mother a third generation Californian. The Beardsley's were a socially prominent family in Pasadena. His sister was a debutante in the early 1970's.

Lloyd attended John Muir High School in Pasadena and subsequently went to college to study pre-med and then on to med school.

Somewhere along the way, Lloyd’s path was diverted. He appeared on the cover of the February 1974 issue of Playgirl alongside actress Mary Pat Bonney. He then moved on to COLT publications where he was known as Jerry Mansfield.

In the Allan Carr, documentary, there is Lloyd posing with several other very handsome model types, so he was definitely hanging out with the "in" crowd. In the mid 1970's, he moved to Laguna Beach and then finally to Palm Springs where he owned a gay bar called Rocks Bar in nearby Cathedral City.

A couple of clarifications about  the IG posting since I always want to honor these guys truthfully.

Lloyd was born and raised in Pasadena, not Palm Springs. Also that cover photo from the February 1974 issue is NOT Lloyd. That model was also known as Jerry Mansfield. In Playgirl Lloyd used his real name. Not sure why he chose or was given the name Jerry Mansfield when he shot with COLT.

Like Roger LeClaire (aka Geoffrey Kane), the feedback about Lloyd has been extremely positive, so it makes me happy that both of these guys who I crushed like crazy in the 70's were really nice and well thought of.

Very handsome man. The beauty of these pictures is our ability to remember these men at the height of their attractiveness. This was during the Peter Lupus era of Playgirl, and I really enjoyed it.
