blip's review so you think you can dance

:blip: had such a good record of being able to pick the winner - or at least top 4 - right at the auditions for the last few years

 

this season - as much as the judges want to boost the female contestants there seriously is nobody there who stands out

 

this year reall does belong to the guys

 

but does anone have star quality? the kind of approach that makes you notice

 

:blip: likes ricky and emilio best thus far (rudy? to be honest - to :blip: he looks like he jus ate a HUGE cherry popsicle. it disturbs :blip: )

 

the star to watch is Travis Wall. Each week his choreography takes slightly better than average dancers and presents something so lovely and exciting to witness

 

:blip: can criticise the costuming. it wasn't quite right. it should have been more gauz-like and in shapes of waves and scallops. there should have been a touch of glitter. we are trying to reflect an under the sea notion....right? the costumes here look like what was best put together in a pinch. the lighting should not have been the same color as the costumes. how are we to see the dancers clearly if you do that? there are plenty of under the sea colors that are not blue.

 

that said

 

this was the highlight. you don't reall need to know exactly what the dance was trying to portray because the choreography clearly shows it - and brilliantly

This was brilliant, and I have to say that I think both Travis Wall *and* Mandy Moore knocked it out of the park on this episode with the group numbers. I found the girls performance to be equally moving. The breaking patterns were fascinating to watch, and the ending, with it's changes in direction, really caught my imagination.

In fact, I don't think I've seen two such memorable group routines since back in Travis Wall's season with Wade Robson's Ramalama Bang Bang.

Have to say that I really do miss Wade's imagination, sense of movement and music, and theatre on the show. I always looked forward to his routines.
