"Victor's reanimated creature"?  As in Victor Hugo?  Maybe "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" wound up in California, too, but Mary Shelley wrote "Frankenstein."  What am I missing? 🥺

Frankenstein  Steinbeck....Grapes of Wrath...when the Okies left OK to escape the drought in Oklahoma by driving into California.

Sorry, but whatever "it" is eludes me, unless the three guys are supposed to be a reference to a slapstick comedy trio of yesteryear.

Is it the camera?

Thanks.  Amazing.  Good one.  To subtle for my old eyes, though! :m1311:

Victor Frankenstein was the name of the doctor who created the monster... I think the cartoon is crossing that with John Steinbeck's "The Grapes Of Wrath"

Aha!  Thanks.  I didn't know Frankenstein's first name.  (Sorry, I haven't read the novel!  But at least I've read "The Grapes of Wrath" and understood all those references.)  Once again, one of Atkinson's literary references is too subtle for my STEM-heavy but humanities-lite education and career.  And today obviously isn't my day, so I'll leave you in peace now! :m1311:

Oh, thanks guys.  I forgot that it was Dr. VICTOR Frankenstein and I should know better having read the novel more than once.  My brain has dimmed over the years as well as my eyes!!

Don't put yourself down... what I think I tried to say to you once in a message is the beauty of Atkinson's work is that if there is something you might be unfamiliar with he puts things together in a way that makes it fairly easy to find answers to things you may not necessarily know especially in art and literature. BTW I have a really strong eye for details and I had to enlarge the photo substantially to find "it" and now as was said... I can't un-see "It"!🌈

Reminds me of the Bob's Burgers episode where looney Aunt Gayle "decorated" the restaurant with her paintings of animals - animals showing their anuses.

that reminds me of a commercial where the dog goes to lay on the couch and points his anus at the camera before laying down.

OK, I won't say anything, but it took me a while to see it, and I agree you can't un-see it once you do.

It took me a while too.
