A regular fixture in Australia and New Zealand’s most applauded magazines, from Black to Karen to GQ and Sunday Life, James Demitri is undoubtedly one of Australia’s top photography talents. Known for a distinctive style that is equal parts unflinchingly sexy and unfailingly chic, James has worked with a bevy of local and international celebrities, including True Blood’s Ryan Kwanten, MC Hammer, Wil Anderson and Delta Goodrem, to name just a few. This time was Blake Skjellerup’s turn to be photographed by Demitri. This fabulous shoot made the cover of GT magazine and a great feature about the 27-year-old skater from New Zealand who is one of the few Olympic athletes who have come out.

I started doing gay erotic art in 2002, making free drawing on public demand. I created my first blog in 2008 where I posted a lot of drawings and images done with the software Poser. In 2010, I started learning 3D softwares like Zbrush and Blender. Learning 3D had always been a dream for me, something that always fascinated me. So after months of self-training, I was able to create my own 3D men from scratch. After a lot of attempts, I finally found the workflow that was good for me and the right style for my 3D men. Now, I'm trying to make this passion my living. WHAT I DO: I'm creating images of big muscular and sexy men. This is not drawing. I'm sculpting my characters in Zbrush, then I render them in Blender.
