Loran23 -- yet another great collection of photos. The stud muffin in photo #1 was known only as "Hawk." He made very few scenes, and photos of him are extremely rare. Photos #1-5 below show him in action with "Dave" in a jeep scene from Falcon Studios' DVD "Hayride" (FVP013), one of their earliest productions. (Both the DVD and the VHS tape that preceded it were remastered from the original film version, so the video quality isn't the best. Also, there's no voice soundtrack, even though you can see the actors talking to each other.) Photos 6-9 were apparently still photos taken on the same scene where the video was shot. #10 is Hawk's cum shot from the scene. As an indication of Pruitt's popularity, a four-page photo spread of him was the first one featured in the 1992 Colt Studio special issue, "The Anniversary Album, Volume 2,"* and out of the 50 models included in that issue, Pruitt was the only one with such a large spread. The issue also included fellow Colt superstars Al Parker and Steve Kelso, so the competition was keen for such an extensive feature. Fittingly, Pruitt is also the last model shown in the final issue in the series, "The Anniversary Album, Volume 4"* (1993), subtitled "The Great Physiques." Steve's posts above include almost all the photos included in these two issues. In Pruitt's spread in the second volume, photographer Jim French wrote, "When we began our work together [in 1984], big JOHN was just leaving the Marine Corps: in his dress uniform he was the most blinding male I'd ever seen ...." (A photo of Pruitt in his Marine Dress Blues would be priceless.) And in the Winter 2004 special issue, "Colt: The Men. The Myth. The Muscles.," French is quoted saying that Pruitt "... was the kind of person who elicits the sounds of dropped flatware in a restaurant." Under the pseudonym Rip Colt, Jim French co-founded Colt Studio in 1967 and was its guiding hand until he sold it to John Rutherford, former owner of Falcon Studios, in 2003. During the "classic years" of French's ownership, Colt emphasized masculinity and the model's ability to project that image on camera above all else: Models varied in build from attractive to potentially competitive bodybuilders. Most models were smooth, but some of the most popular ones were bears, too (like Frank Kelso and Pete Kuzak). Endowment was not an especially important criterion, although plenty of their models were very gifted in that respect. (Pruitt is certainly endowed very nicely, but he's not horse-hung like some other Colt and Falcon models of the same era.) The same applied to not needing an erection for their photos and, in a few cases, even to not being shown completely nude. Age didn't seem to matter, either. A very small number of French's models were quite young (early 20s), but most were more mature. And while many of their models were handsome (like Pruitt) or very good-looking, that wasn't a particularly important consideration in selection, either. (Few would consider "Ledermeister" or "Moose" even marginally good-looking, but they were Colt classics, especially "Ledermeister." Pruitt simply stood out on all criteria, especially physical beauty. French's emphasis on masculinity was in stark contrast to other studios and publishers, who tended to emphasize attractiveness and/or endowment size, with some exceptions, and youth above all. Alas, despite his pledges to maintain Colt's traditional standards, John Rutherford soon transformed the studio to look much more like Falcon than like Colt's former aesthetic. Gone were all the classic models, replaced by much younger, typically prettier porn performers, like Brandon Bangs and Dylan Roberts. Printed products were drastically reduced, with the new emphasis being on hard-core videos and DVDs. Although Colt had produced some hard-core and soft-core DVDs under French's ownership, they were never his primary focus. He emphasized the print products, like calendars and magazine collections of high-quality photos. By 2010, Rutherford's Colt Studio Group had gone into bankruptcy and is now under new ownership. Among other debts, Rutherford reportedly couldn't complete payments to French for the purchase of Colt! Steve mentioned in his 4 June post that before modeling for Colt, Pruitt's name was Jim Yount. Yount is a member of Drury University's Athletics Hall of Fame, with an impressive set of accomplishments, including leading Drury's swimming team to its first national championship and holding several individual records. I don't think I'd ever be able to have full-on penetrative sex in public.
