Prochnow, Jürgen (Military 2-68)

@ColtMann: German actor Jürgen Prochnow in his role as a World War II U-boat (submarine) captain in the German movie "Das Boot" ("The Boat"), which was originally released in the US in the early 1980s with English subtitles.  It was later re-released dubbed in English.  For trailers and more info, see:

This is an extremely heavy movie that depicts "the boredom, filth, and sheer terror" (to quote IMDb.com's description) of life onboard a U-boat in that era.  It's not something to watch if you're not in the right mood.

The movie is based on an excellent novel by Lothar G. Buchheim, if you're interested in this subject.

There's also a 2018 SKY TV series by the same name that's only loosely based on the original movie.
