   A new breed of man is emerging on the glossy pages and our big & small screens. A look familiar to LAB having embraced it for many a seasons, the Manchild, part man part child, with chizelled but innocent looking features thats contrasts to the classic handsome faces of the 90'-00's. The latest campaigns for Tom Ford, Alexander Wang with Max Motta, Givenchy with Simon Nessman & Jonathan Marquez, Danny Schwarz for Calvin Klien, Sebastien Sauve for Frankie Morello and Zara and celebrated on screen with James Franco, Robert Pattinson all celebrating this look. More recently Henry Cavill who has been cast to play the lead as the NEW Superman with another new film yet to be released about mythical tales - Immortals, due out early 2012 marks it as the trend to watch in male modelling. This model's look reminiscent of Henry Cavill (you be the judge also) in the Tudors recently nabbed the most coveted spot of opening LAB HOMME Salon Presentation SS12' Pre - Collection in Sydney, to a private audience of Media & Buyers during Australian Fashion Week in May. The honour was bestowed to Tom O whom is a veteran with LAB, the only male model to be cast at 4 out of the 4 presentations to date. We spend 15 minutes, post Australian Fashion Week to catch up & introduce the next face to watch, Tom O'Connor... LAB: Welcome Tom, Lets go back to the beginning, tell us - How | When did you begin modelling? TO: Around the middle of 2008- I had a few friends that were models and they were always encouraging me to do it so I went and payed a visit to Chadwicks. The manager of the men?s division was overseas at the time and I didn?t have any shots so they took a couple of digitals and when he came back I went in for an interview and was signed that day. LAB: Which agencies do you belong to? TO: I am with Chadwick for modelling and 360 Management for Acting/Presenting LAB: So where are you currently based out of? TO: In Sydney. LAB: Can you tell us about your fashion style that best describes you? TO: Definitely the 60s/70s. It was a liberating time for fashion- it might not seem so bold compared to fashion today but when you compare it to the conservatism of the 50s and early 60s it was really a revolution and I feel it represents the dawning of a more carefree paradigm that has heavily influenced the way I see fashion and also the world. That being said, I also think that different fashions suit different situations and there?s a timeless elegance in a well cut suit that?s hard to match. LAB: Do you have a current weakness for food you highly recommend? TO: I really love to cook and also love to indulge from time to time; I?m partial to good chocolate, lollies and also enjoy going out for a beer with my mates. I think the most important thing at the end of the day though is balance so I?ll train hard during the week whether it be basketball, mixed martial arts or just in the gym to make sure that any excesses don?t affect me too much LAB: Next question, Can you list 3 fav animals + characteristics, why you like or thought of them? TO: a/Tiger: I?ve always loved tigers; they?re such majestic creatures but at the same time they are incredibly fast, strong and about as high up on the food chain as you can get. I was fortunate enough to pat and play with one on a recent trip to Thailand and I?d love to spend some time working at a Tiger sanctuary in Africa or Thailand. b/ Dogs: They?re amazingly loyal animals. It?s been scientifically proven that having dogs around can help you live longer than people who live alone. I?ve had dogs all my life and I can imagine not having any. c/ Pandas: Basically just because they?re really cute LAB: Favourite colour? TO: Blue. It has always been my favourite colour and my favourite stones are lapis lazuli (Friendship, truth, love) and turquoise (strength, protection from harm, psychic sensitivity and connection to the spirit world). The colour also seems so have calming properties and reminds me of the ocean when I?m not near it. [Colour theory - Blue is a "favourite color" of most and is seen as trustworthy, dependable and committed. The color of sky and the ocean, blue is perceived as a constant in our lives. Being strong, important, peaceful, intelligent. As the collective color of the spirit, it evokes rest and can calm the body, however not all blues are serene and sedate. Electric or brilliant blues become dynamic and dramatic, an engaging color that expresses exhilaration.] LAB: Who would you describe as your Movie ICON? TO: There?s way too many to name; from the classics like Humphrey Bogart, Steve McQueen and Robert Redford to modern guys like Heath Ledger, Leonardo Di Caprio, Brad Pitt. The actor whom I respect the most however is Johnny Depp- I love the fact that he?s not afraid to take risks with characters choice and the amount of work that he puts into BECOMING a character rather than just playing one. I also love his personal style and his laid back demeanour. LAB: And Best words of advice - given or advised? TO: ?Fortes fortuna adiuvat?    Tyler Bachtel was born on 27th February 1984 in Minneapolis, Minnesota but moved to Dublin, Ohio by the age of three. Tyler is the eldest of the three. He grew up with younger sisters, Lauren and Rachel. He attended Dublin Coffman High School, but spent his senior year and graduated from Dublin Scioto High School. While in high school, Tyler played baseball and soccer. He left Ohio in 2008 to pursue a modelling career and quickly landed jobs with companies like Calvin Klein, Abercombie & Fitch and Ed Hardy. Tyler has since become an internationally successful model. He has also worked with famous photographers like Bruce Weber, Greg Gorman & Tony Duran.     With his breakthrough performance as Eames in Christopher Nolan's science fiction thriller Inception (2010), English actor Tom Hardy has been brought to the attention of mainstream audiences worldwide. But the versatile actor has been steadily working on both stage and screen since his television debut in the miniseries "Band of Brothers" (2001). After being cast in the World War II drama, Hardy left his studies at the prestigious Drama Centre in London and was subsequently cast in Ridley Scott's Black Hawk Down (2001) and as the villain Shinzon in Star Trek: Nemesis (2002). Tom was born on September 15, 1977 in Hammersmith, London; his father, Edward, is a writer and Anne, his mother, is an artist. He was brought up in East Sheen, London, and first studied at Reed's School. His education continued at Tower House School, then at Richmond Drama School, and subsequently at the Drama Centre London. After winning a modeling competition at age 21, he had a brief contract with the agency Models One. Tom spent his teens and early twenties battling delinquency, alcoholism and drug addiction; after completing his work on Star Trek: Nemesis (2002), he sought treatment and has also admitted that his battles with addiction ended his 5-year marriage. Returning to work in 2003, Hardy was awarded the Evening Standard Most Promising Newcomer Award for his theatre performances in the productions of "In Arabia, We'd All Be Kings" and "Blood". In 2003 Tom also co-starred in the play "The Modernists" with Paul Popplewell, Jesse Spencer and Orlando Wells. During the next five years, Hardy worked consistently in film, television and theatre, playing parts as varied as Robert Dudley in the BBC's "The Virgin Queen" (2005), Bill Sikes in "Oliver Twist" (2007) and starring in "The Man of Mode" at the National Theatre. On the silver screen, he appeared in the crime thriller Layer Cake (2004) with Daniel Craig, Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette (2006), and the romp Scenes of a Sexual Nature (2006). In 2006, Hardy created "Shotgun", an underground theatre company along with director Robert Delamere, and directed a play, penned by his father for the company, called "Blue on Blue". In 2007, Hardy received a best actor BAFTA nomination for his touching performance as Stuart Shorter in the BBC adaptation of Alexander Masters' bestselling biography Stuart: A Life Backwards (2007) (TV). The following year, he appeared as gay hoodlum Handsome Bob in the Guy Ritchie film RocknRolla (2008), but it would be his next transformation that would prove his extensive range and stun critics. In the film Bronson (2008), Hardy played the notorious Charles Bronson (given name, Michael Peterson), the "most violent prisoner in Britain". Bald, bulked-up, and outfitted with Bronson's signature strongman mustache, Hardy is unrecognizable and gives a harrowing performance that is physically fearless and psychologically unsettling. Director Nicolas Winding Refn breaks down the fourth wall with Hardy retelling his tales directly to viewers as well as performing them outright before an audience of his own imagining. The performance mixes terrifying brutality, vaudevillian showmanship, wry humor, and an alarming amount of commitment, and won Hardy a British Independent Film Award for Best Actor. The performance got Hollywood's attention and, in 2009, Hardy was named one of Variety's "10 Actors to Watch". That year, he continued to garner praise for his starring role in "The Take" (2009), a four-part adaptation of Martina Cole's bestselling crime novel, as well as for his performance as Heathcliff in a version of Wuthering Heights (2009) (TV). Recent work includes the aforementioned breakthrough appearance in Inception (2010) alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Cillian Murphy, Tom Berenger, Ken Watanabe, Michael Caine, Marion Cotillard and Ellen Page. Knai came from well-off parents, his dad worked in the Royal Norwegian Air Force and his mom an entrepreneur. When he was three, they moved to B?rum, Oslo. While in school, Thor was involved in a variety of different activities like sports, martial arts, and role-playing which awoke his passion for acting. When Knai was 15, his mother found a casting call in the newspaper for a mini-series that was to be shown on NRK, a national television network. He was then referred by the impressed director to attend more auditions including the lead in feature film "Lime, 2001", although unsuccessfully. At this point in his life he had no real aspirations to become an actor. That happened later when he played lead in a high school cabaret which was awarded "Best high school cabaret of the year", an award he accepted in front of fifteen hundred people on a well known stage in Oslo, the "Chateau Neuf". During this year he signed a contract to go on a NATO, ISAF7 (international security assistance force) peacekeeping mission to Kabul, Afghanistan. He subsequently served the tour of seven months as a combat medic. After completing the tour in Afghanistan, Knai went on to pursue his dream and was admitted to the New York Film Academy at Universal Studios in Los Angeles for a one year acting conservatory program set to begin September 2005. During his brief stay in Norway before leaving for LA, Thor auditioned for, and got a part in a big Norwegian reality show called "Filmstjerne" (Moviestar) after out-performing thousands of other actors. He graduated the program spring '06 and went on to work on short films and minor parts in features like "He's Such a Girl (2007)" and "How to Lose Friends & Alienate People (2008)." Currently Knai is pursuing his acting career and doing modeling work.
