Former NFL Player And Bachelor Star, Colton Underwood, Comes Out As Gay

The former Oakland Raiders football player and Bachelor star has come out as gay in an exclusive pre-taped interview on Good Morning America, reports ABC.

“I’ve ran from myself for a long time. I’ve hated myself for a long time,” Underwood tells GMA. Adding that he went through “dark and bad” times before being ready to come out.

Underwood says that he has known he was gay from an early age, describing feeling “different” from the other boys and in his teens experiencing attraction to other men. Growing up in the Catholic Church, Underwood says he was taught early on that being “gay is a sin” forcing him to hide his true feelings. 

When Underwood was named as the Bachelor, he says he remembered “praying to God” and “thanking him for making me straight,” thinking the experience would lead him to finding a wife and starting a family. When asked if he feels as though he’s misled the women from his season of The Bachelor, Underwood is apologetic and wishes he hadn’t dragged other people into the “mess of figuring out who I was”.

Underwood says he has had a variety of responses to coming out, but is thankful for the love and support he has had from friends and family.

Prophetically, actor Billy Eichner joked that Underwood could be the “first gay Bachelor” when appearing on the show in 2019.  

Underwood is reportedly filming an unscripted Netflix series, following his life as an openly gay athlete with Olympian Gus Kenworthy as his ‘gay guide’.

Tbh, after hearing the whole psyco thing with the girl from the show, and seeing how he already has a netflix show, just shows how white cis gay men are glorified nowadays just cause they're conventionaly beautiful. Even the Gus guy, who can't act for his life, will be on the show, but he "cute" so it's ok lol

Agree that the Bachelor is stupid and his need for attention has led to some questionable choices.  This website is mostly about cute guys, though, and he certainly qualifies.   I wouldn't mind seeing a gallery of his nudes on here (once some inevitably leak in a couple years)

All I can say is, 'who really cares?"  Of course we have to get the jab in at organized religion.  It wouldn't be a true coming out if he didn't.  For the record, not all Catholics are bad.  I was raised in a catholic house house hold, by catholic and Eastern Orthodox parents, grand parents, and great grandparents.  My grandmother knew I was gay before I did.  They did not try to exercise the demons from my head and did not tell me I'm going to hell.  Nothing changed. Although, I was put in charge of the Easter flowers at church!

I could not agree with Robert more! it's no big deal; I hate reality shows, and my only interest in athletics is having Aaron Rodgers come out/all over me.
