The so-called “gay moment” in Disney’s new live-action version of “Beauty and the Beast” is subtle — so subtle that one could easily miss it with an ill-timed sneeze or glance away from the screen. And it may sail over the heads of young viewers.

But the cast and director say it is indeed a gay moment —one they’re proud of. And advocates are calling it a big step forward for Disney and for youth entertainment.

Mere word of it was also enough to lead one Alabama drive-in theater to cancel plans to show the film — apparently without having seen it, because it doesn’t open nationwide until March 17.

The article doesn't include an actual reference to the 'adoration', but I'm assuming it'll be fairly innocuous for a Disney movie

The article said it didn’t give any details about the “adoration” because it would be a spoiler.  It also says that part of the scene happens so fast that you may miss it if you blink.  One of the article’s main points is that, yes, it’s fairly innocuous because it’s a Disney movie, but it’s another cautious step for Disney toward being more diverse.  E.g., they already have characters from ethnic minorities, and they it seems to be inching their way “out of the closet."

So really they should have just kept their mouth shut so it never would have been banned and those seeing it would pick up on it if they got the reference. To much ballyhoo. On another note the original Gaston was based on gay erotic art.

I’ve never heard or seen “trade” used in this sense before.  At least in the past, “trade” has usually referred to a hustler, and that’s how it’s defined in The Unofficial Gay Manual: Living the Lifestyle (or at Least Appearing To).  The Manual was published in 1994 and reissued in 2010, so parts of it are very dated now, but other topics in it are still relevant today.  And as the cheeky subtitle hints at, most of it is humorous and tongue-in-cheek.  It’s available online:
