Jim Cassidy

One of my favorite vintage porn stars. A bodybuilder that started modeling for Jim French in New York in the 60s. He moved to Los Angeles in 1969 where he modeled for gay photographer Pat Rocco who introduced him to the porn industry. He initially did both gay and straight porn in the 70s but switched entirely to straight porn in the early 80s using the name Rick Cassidy.  He retired from the porn industry in 1985 and moved to PA where he worked as  a real estate agent. He died in 2013.

My guess he was bisexual. His reasons for quitting gay porn work was that he thought he was being "overexposed" as a gay porn star. While in straight porn, he said male actors were merely "props" for the female porn stars.

I read somewhere that the actors who switched to straight porn is because they made more money.

Probably true since there is a wider audience for straight porn. As a result male actors have more chances to work in straight porn sets, especially if they are in demand by female porn stars. I read that female leading porn stars can demand only specific male actors to work with.  However gay porn stars make more money per film episode compared to their "straight" counterparts, much more if they achieve "star" attraction status.
