My mother was still using one in the late '80s. We had a regular washer when I was growing up, but I guess it stayed with the house when they sold it.

4. Drop cards on way to uni compting centre. Leave cards with miserable old bag at counter

5. Wait three days before returning to find your program failed after a few lines.

Yeah, this is either an old meme or the age is off by 10-20 years for most people.  My grandmothers had washing machines like this.  The machines had no fixed plumbing for filling and draining.  My grandmothers used hoses.

Yeah, I think we had the fancy new washers in 1967 like we do now 😂

Yes, I always thought he was debonair back then.  Even in his later years on "CSI".  Unfortunately, he passed away yesterday.  I always like the many spy-related television shows back then.

it was back in the 1940's when I was helping my mother put the clothes through the wringer. As she cranked, (not electric powered rollers) I held the end of the laundered garment and fed it into the rollers. Well, didn't let go soon enough, and my hand and part of my arm want in between the rollers. Amazing, didn't hurt or cause me harm. i think the rollers probably adjusted themselves to the size of the item  passing though and my appendage was small at that age.  It was an unforgettable moment for me as I remember being really scared. I think i was about 5 years old at the time. Needless to say, i was not longer asked to be "mother's little helper" after that.
