Hey, oldies and hey, newbies. i have to admit. yesterday when i started this journey... i was a bit feeling like a scarecrow in a garden of cucumbers. But i WARMED up to it. i really did. these foilks around here....well, they really ARE good folks. Such humor! Such scintillating intellects. Such thrilling repartee! Such banter, but not for bantering's sake. i notice that there is (no pun intended-- i lied) A lotta MEAT in these various threads and people are really and truly generous and non-judgemental.

OK OK OK OK OK OK OK I admit it. i was...um....scared really. but as i read the posts, worked my way through them really, i started to get it (By JOVE, i think she's got it!) and there is HIDDEN...a lot of real practical (to steal from Stevie Nicks) magic here and in these peoples. They put a spell on me! I checked.

I am a systematic kind of guy, it is the way i live and work. i start at the beginning and kinda sorta plod on through till the end. it took HOURS before I figured out ow to post a damn picture...admin--take note. but i persevered and got it. By JOVE! how great i felt! Nothing sucks seeds like success.

any-hoo. after a time, it (whassit? "it is what it is, dummy!) began to sink in.

this site is the SHIT and these folks right up in here, these are really nice (I used the hackneyed word...) people. take it from me.. the old fart.

So, I'm stealing a word from Negro spirituals ( being a person of color, i get to do that. ha! and my thing is always somehow connected to music and songs) "....Weeping may endure for a night, but JOY (that witch!) commeth in the morning!" And if you have read what the newbie moderator wrote at the beginning of your journey here, that's more or less, what he said. PAy attention to those who came before you... it isn't necessarily premature ejaculation.

What do you think? how is YOUR experience here so far? How could the oldies have been better-- more helpful to you, new kid on the block? Are you listening bobby brown?

For me, (a thickheaded blockhead) a FAQ might have been nice........ :tease:

You do seem to have warmed up.

:willy:

I am loving your chatter dude. I very much look forward to welcoming you into the site.

One tiny little concern.. when you are let loose into the pages and pages of chat, could I ask that you respond to, say, a maximum of 10 threads per day in any single forum. Too much chat actually knocks the current conversation being undertaken around.

There are many different conversations going on. Pick the ones of most interest to you.

Please advise that you understand and the gates will open.

point well taken. Actually, yesterday, I had really wanted to read the whole thing and I did. I started at the top and read EVERYTHING. MOST of it was interesting to me, especially all the word games and stuff. Plus really, there are some very clever and talnted folks about. It is very revealing of you all in that way. i guess you already know that, huh?

A suggestion from me, if you'd like someone to respond only to ten a day, you might then, divide the newbie section into 'A' 'B' and "c' rather than have it as the monolith it is. OR, as you do so well in other areas, say it up front. ....Oh! I get it now, youjust wanted to discipline me...hmmmmmm i didn't know you were into THAT!

anyway, Like Chaka Khan sings "once you get started, OH, it's hard to stop" and that, my friend is the absolute truth.

Thanks for your words and your advice; as i said, it has been noted and because it is good advice, I might even pay attention and act on it. Imagine that!

I'm sure when cool_a sees your response he'll promote you bud, only takes a moment and you're in :)

haha, so you're a stones fan then?

I like a few of their tunes (Under My Thumb / Paint it Black / Little Red Rooster / Time is on my Side)

A-ha, a dyed HARD stones fan . (dating myself) I was in high school in 1968 when the stones came to Madison Square garden in NYC with the ike and tina Turner revue as a warm-up band. A watershed year for me, also saw LED ZEPPELIN that year. In 1972-3 got to see FACES with Rod Stewart and the Stone's newest member (a-hem) Ron Wood wih all THEIR craziness... but by then, i was already living in San Fiasco.

Going back to Mick and the boys, i am so ga-ga for the :dance1: , that i even saw

NED KELLY about 5 times and

PERFORMANCE (with that sexy, cold-ass james FOX! and michelle breton and keith's then wifey, Anita Pallenberg) a record (punny)

27 times!

Not to mention the concert movie

GIMME SHELTER , a movie of the same tour that i saw as a kid skipping chemistry and Latin..

yup, I'd say i was, in general, a fan of the many movements in British Rock, because, bcause, because... unlike the Americans, the BRITS have ALWAYS honored, loved and gave tribute too the Black, blues artists, whom they emulated (Thank you Clapton/Winwood)

"see dick run!

run, run, run'

ach or

no more. no less.

I LIKE my age. When i was 24-25, i dreaded 40. I was afraid of stuff that just has not happened. My physical functions are great 9I NEVER get sick.), I have never been hospitalized, have no mental illness (diagnosed) and i sleep raher well. All in all no deterioration. My Dad did not get gray until in his 70s and I have just a teeny bit.

haviong said that, having lived along time, I think i am privy to many things that experience alone can teach or give..so someimes I get impatient with people who are as I was when i was their age. Try telling THAT to someone and see how far it gets you. So I am looking forward to 60, when i will have crossedanother threshold and perhaps when i do, i will be given other gifts....

That's a good old attitude. We only live once. I am so very thankful just to be alive and healthy.

IMHO, it's great to have a wider range of age demographic here, but let's try to be patient with each other.

I am so very thankful ...[/b]

THAT my brother,(in my opinion and you know what "they" say about opinions being like assholes---everyone's got one and they all stink....) is the singular key to peace and contentment. "they" never say or teach that. "they" teach us to want more to acquire more to compete to strive. "they" never say BE THANKFUL. you said "so very" and I FELT it here. (read: i belive you)

there was a song called ...well, you know me by now...

"Though you may not drive a great big Cadillac

Ganster whitewalls--TV antenna in the back

Though you may not have a car at all

Just rememember brothers and sisters

You can still STAND TALL.

Just be thankful for what you've got....."

-William De Vaughan

In my opinion, you already KNOW more than most people ever will.......
