I learned how to swim at the Waikiki Natatorium War Memorial (It was built to honor the men and woman in Hawaii who lost their lives in WW1) It opened in 1927 and has been closed since the 80's due to safety issues... it's suffered horrible disrepair and decay over the years and there is still talk of renovating and reopening. If you watch the old Hawaii 5-0 or the original Magnum pi it was used a few times... I really can't tell you how much fun I had there.. It truly is one of my favorite memories growing up.

I had a wonderful time attending UCLA... I lived nearby on Ashton Avenue so I could easily walk to and from campus... but what I really miss are all the fabulous shops and restaurants that used to be in nearby Westwood Village.

That Arch is sensational. It reminds me of the rainbow in Andrew Lloyd Weber's musical "The Wizard of Oz".

Speaking of Westwood... Bullock's is where I had my first civilian (not entertainment industry) job... in the gift wrap department during the holidays while I was in school. It looks pretty much the same on the outside now but it's a Ralph's (grocery store) Target and UCLA childcare center on th inside.

This is still my favorite of all television shows.

Never saw either show... I think I was the wrong age... I was not home watching television when they were on... but Ive heard from others they were great... especially "Dark Shadows"

Even though Mom vehemently denies it still, we watched this every night it was on.

My Childhood years were the 70's into early 80's. How life was soooooo much nicer and friendlier then, No worries. You could enjoy life(You can't now) They were bad times, but people handled it and life went on. Ride bike all over town, no one would bother you. Unlike today 😞  .Could even sleep in yard, not lock your house, As I grew up, music is been my drug. At one time had over 3000 45 records. Every decade and style of music. If it was on the radio, I would buy it. Now all we have it the internet and putting them on a player. At least takes up less room. LOL

Even the tv shows were better. Now don't even turn it on.

Glad you started this topic.

My childhood years were the 70's and 80's as well. I remember that our house was always unlocked and my friends would just run in and out of the house during the day. We would sometimes walk to school without adult supervision and we would swim at the lake naked and our parents didn't mind one bit. It was a different time back then. Fun Times.

We had a very laid back approach to living especially when it came to locking the house... whoever was the last person home locked the back door. That all changed right after the Charles Manson gang started their killing spree in LA... we had to have the locks changed and keys made... no one knew where the keys were to the original locks.

When I graduated from UCLA the only job I could get was as a Flight Attendant for Pan Am... it was supposed to be temporary until I found something else... but I lasted about ten years and saw the world and made some great friends... the free travel was the perk that kept me with the airline for so long.

I also flew the friendly skies when I was younger, I was beautiful back then 😂 hahaha...Through flight attending I was able to see the world, experience different cultures and tasted different cuisines. Flying was different back then, I had a wonderful experience as a flight attendant. And back then, there were no "Karens".

I distinctly remember the time I realized that I like boys more than I like girls is when I first saw Alain Delon on the screen. His smile was captivating. I said to myself that he is the most gorgeous man I have ever laid my eyes on.

I grew up in a wonderful home with a lovely family and cool friends. I consider all my friends in the neighborhood as my brothers, we all played together, we fought, we talked about girls a lot. I had crushes on some of the girls in our neighborhood and in school. I was actually girl crazy when I was young. But everything changed when I saw Alain on the screen. Something awakened inside me that made me scared and unsettled. I didn't understand what I was feeling but I knew something has changed. I grew up not knowing that gays even existed, I didn't know the concept of being gay because I never met one, heard one or even saw one on TV. It was all confusing to me, I was just hoping that all these new feelings would stop one day and everything will be back to normal. But It didn't, it took me some time to fully embrace my identity but I eventually did. And it all began with Alain's smile.

We had our share of difficult passengers (Lucille Ball and Ryan O'Neal are tied for who was the biggest twat) One of the nicest things about working for Pan Am besides the non-revenue flights... was that they were good about giving non-paid leave of absence time off to pursue other interests... being in the chorus and dancing in this little movie was one of the highlights.

Two things I used to love were spending (sometimes hours) time in record stores (Tower Records in Westwood Village used to be a favorite) and in bookstores... since the pandemic started I've been buying books on line and music from I tunes.
