Roku is ok-ish

image.png.f3dfa6b13803e2744584d1fa6d811c52.png has been able to - at a reduced cost - find all the stations and such image.png.de86ec352a345c493b9d88460a48e212.png watched on cable

plus there is now Netflix and Amazon

which still comes in way below the cable price did

from over $120 (approx) a month to $90ish

but the modem is upstairs

at another end of image.png.8385930c7fa14460da45f984c3356624.png's lil rock in the middle of the woods

and the tv image.png.4b3dc74edf4a24447cd3c973ea93ad60.png tends to watch is downstairs

and in that corner - downstairs - the wifi appears to vanish

if you go into the next room the wifi is ok

but just 20 steps away and it is no longer reliable

image.png.5580759cf0feff299450d90a8d29f446.png thought the summer's weird wifi issues would pass once the cooler weather came

as it usually does

but Roku all day kept loosing the connection

over and over

out of an hour of Lawrence O'Donnell image.png.76878903a9a6672265f75e11dc8a5266.png might have actually heard 20 minutes

image.png.ee3f73e715ea57a9c6c5ff71846f1f01.png does not enjoy having to rant and rave at an inanimate object later at night

in short

image.png.51fe0fa927c3237acea9b625f87ba191.png misses cable

I have used Roku one one TV and Fire on another for some time. Do not have a problem with them. Can watch everything I watched on cable at much lower cost.

image.png.20cc4c8359edb00847dd47192b6a09b5.png suspects either lousy wifi is making the tv picture lousy

lousy wifi certainly is the reason why the connection sometimes fails downstairs but never upstairs because the modem and router are much closer

as to the picture quality? it could be that the 20 year old tv is dying. but it is difficult to tell what issue is at fault. wifi? old tv? bad wifi cheap to fix with a booster. but a tv that large? that is an investment
