thank you, Bailey!!

at first it was hard not to take offence when you`d be walking down the street and the people walking towards you would place a rather large distance between you and them as they passed you by. most of them had something nice to say like hello or beautiful weather, but in the end, it paid off. not everyone was wearing masks, but social distancing was a widely practiced. if you went to the bank to use the ATM, they'd have the middle ones closed, so you didn`t get too close to each other!! the lineups at stores could be quite long, but a little patience paid off as you were soon in the store doing your shopping. for those wanting take out, the restaurants were open and delivery became the norm. we have Skip The Dishes, DoorDash, and UberEats, and i am sure they were all working overtime delivering food from restaurants that didn`t do delivery.

it never stopped me from taking my daily walks to get in my 15,000 steps. some days i got more and a few days i got less, mostly because on those days it was raining!! it shouldn`t be too long before the gyms are open again. you can bet i`ll be in line to get my workout in, everyday!! with love from Wes!! Hugs!!!

A friend of mine lives in a village in the North of England. He says that, before the pandemic, it was absolutely rude to avoid people on the street. You were supposed to stop and exchange a few pleasentries, chat about the weather a bit. Now it is common courtesy to steer clear of the others.

Florida Pop. 21.5M: 146,000 confirmed +5,266

vs.

Australia Pop. 25M: 7,765 confirmed (with surge in Victoria) +81

vs.

Germany Pop. 83M: 195k confirmed +262

I ask everyone to take it serious. The situation is getting out of control in Florida and large parts of the United States. Not only is the number of confirmed cases increasing, but the number of hospitalization is also rising. Exponential.

I think  most people I know take the virus seriously. Most countries have a federal government that has set the tone and thus, have spearheaded and coordinated the response. In the US, the federal government response has been a mess. You have a  president who first used it as a way of campaigning and taking advantage of free air time with daily press conferences.  Instead of letting the scientists lead the discussion you had the orange blob talking nonsense and even telling people to drink bleach.

He was found lying about procurement of supplies, PPE, and testing. Then he pivoted it to the state. I live in Illinois and our governor worked hard to have the shelter in place be successful. We have been fortunate, the curve has flattened and we are more like Illinois before covid.

You still have federal  happy talk, mixed messaging, and everything politicized such as wearing masks.

This  country is still  in phase one and hopefully, it might take an administration change (god willing) to get a unified, sane federal response to this horrible virus. All countries other than the US had a unified response we have happy talk and politics. We have 4 % of aggregate world population but 25% of total global positive covid cases. I think the problem starts with the federal government's lack of response

In response to Tomster's posting on July 1 (sorry I just saw this), if you go to www.yale.edu, click on Search in the top line.  Enter Gonsalves (first name not necessary) in the search box and you will get references to other Yale articles and news bits about Gregg's contribution to public health issues and law.  There is also an article about him having received a MacArthur Genius Award in 2018.  Proud and happy to have him working at Yale and contributing to our understanding of the virus.

Facilities for sports and recreational fitness activities

Examples of facilities for sports and recreational fitness activities include gyms, fitness studios, and community centres.

Physical distancing must be maintained, except if playing a team sport or as needed for personal training.

The total number of people permitted in areas containing weights or exercise machines is limited to the number of people that can maintain physical distancing of at least two metres, which cannot exceed the indoor gathering limit of 50 people.

The total number people permitted in classes or organized activities at any one time is limited to the number of people that can maintain physical distancing of at least two metres, and cannot exceed the indoor gathering limit of 50 people or the outdoor limit of 100.

Assigned spaces are strongly recommended for organized fitness classes (e.g., by marking circles on the floor to designate where each person should exercise).

Gathering limits do not apply in all other areas (e.g., pools, tennis courts and rinks).

Equipment must be cleaned and disinfected between user sets or at the end of a game.

Any washrooms, locker rooms, change rooms, showers or similar amenities made available to the public must be cleaned and disinfected frequently.

Steam rooms and saunas are not yet permittedt to open.

Canada is one of the countries that have responded responsibly to the virus. The same applies to Australia. However, one can see the tragic surge in cases in Victoria.

lllAmen Tomster!

The orange blob is going to start doing those idiotic 'Corona Task Force Daily Briefings" again.  Hopefully anybody undecided on his not being  fit for office should have an A-Ha moment when it devolves into a campaign rally. Did anybody see him on Fox Sunday with Chris Wallace? If anybody cared about the health of US citizens and democracy, the government leaders should evoke the 25th amendment to oust his crazy ass.

i just found out that we`ll need to continue social distancing at the gym, and that the gyms are upping their cleaning regime, 2 things i wouldn't have expected to change. when i`m walking down the street, i still have people going out of there way to distance themselves from me!! so yu gotta know we are still being very cautious!!

Interesting thoughts and views from everyone, both US and abroad.  It's scary what's happening, but if we're careful about where we go, with whom we share time, do our distancing, use our mask, wash our hands often, I personally do feel more safe, and hope you all will too.  At my age, 69, I do avoid new environments as my doctor considers me at risk, though I'm healthy.  I want to stay healthy.  I take a friend who doesn't drive to the store, etc., twice a week, but I wait in the car while he does his shopping.  I don't want to purposely put myself in a space where my health may be jeopardized, even if it means being inconvenienced at times, or that some people believe I'm taking this whole Covid-19 thing too far.  Well, I only get one life, so yes, I'm going to be extra careful.  I do appreciate reading everyone's comments.  I live in Missouri, where we have 102,900 cases as of 09/13/2020, almost 1,800 deaths.  My county, Greene, has 4,748 cases, and 44 deaths.  County population is about 296,000.  Many of the deaths are the result of seniors in nursing homes, etc.  It's a terrible thing to see happen.  I'm new to the group, heard from bakersman94, and could use a few more friends.  I don't really know how to send comments to individual members, or if it's allowed.  Saw this as an option to reach out to others through these entries submitted by bakersman94.  As a survivor of a stroke in 2004, I have trouble learning new things, so the items on the far left are a bit confusing.  I would appreciate any help.  Toby

You can use the messenger for private messages.

The figures you have given are staggering. I fear that they are now much higher. It is wise that you avoid the risks.

Please stay healthy.
